Oakside Addition

In order to seat a growing extended family around one common table, an increasingly cramped dining area was expanded into the generous backyard garden to create a space that serves as an intimate sitting room that can be easily annexed to allow the homeowners to host larger gatherings.

Double doors on each side of the addition extend the space further into the garden and onto an exsiting patio, creating a space that is adaptable for lively outdoor entertaining as much as for contemplative mornings with a coffee and good book.

The project adeptly integrates with the landscaping, incorporating new as well as old features. The new side deck quietly touches the existing aspen grove, while an existing brick planter was relocated to make way for new steps from the patio and capture runoff from the addition through a rain chain.
